The Bronze Star
Medal
SSG Allen Moran
SSG Moran has answered the call for service to
his country by outperforming his peers throughout the preparation and deployment of the G-2 section 3d Infantry Division in
support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III (OIF III) from 3 January 2005 to 1 January 2006.
SSG Moran was selected to be NCOIC of the G2 DTAC. He took charge of his section and ensured all equipment and personnel moved forward
of the Division Main body to Camp Beuhring, Kuwait
without incident. While there, he supervised and ensured the fusion of multiple
intelligence disciplines from organic resources, other units, and MACOM, to provide highly accurate and timely intelligence
for successful onward movement of the Division Main. After the 3d Infantry Division
HQ was established at Camp Liberty Iraq,
SSG Moran oversaw the successful redeployment of the DTAC from Kuwait
to Iraq without incident.
While at Camp
Liberty, SSG Moran was selected for the subsequent position of NCOIC of the G-2
OPS section in the Commander’s Information Center (CIC). As NCOIC, he quickly
created, implemented, and maintained the standard for the reporting, tracking, and dissemination processes of the G-2 OPS. These reports and procedures were utilized in producing daily status reports on the
various operations conducted by the Multi-National Division Baghdad. SSG Moran
also conceived and maintained the division Threat Warning tracker thereby ensuring threat information was not only disseminated
to appropriate units and maintained situational awareness for all, but was also cataloged for historical analysis.
SSG Moran also quickly learned and mastered to
utilize the Command Post of the Future program. With his responsibility and newfound
knowledge, SSG Moran created intelligence products for scheduled requirements and pivotal attack events that quickly became
and remained the standard throughout the Division and were even used by national agencies such as the National
Ground Intelligence Center.
SSG Moran distinguished himself on a daily basis
by consistently exhibiting a high standard of work and dedication to service. His
efforts and products ensured proper intelligence situational awareness for not only the Commander, 3d Infantry Division, but
the command group as well. SSG Moran is a model NCO that was directly responsible
for the deployment, daily operations, and success of the G-2 CIC OPS and G-2 DTAC sections while in support of OIF III.
